1. Cleaning of coloured contamination during preparation

Since about 10 years machines have been proposed for the removal of contamination in the preparation line. All these machines are based on the assumption that foreign materials are different from raw cotton with respect to colour and brightness. Therefore all suppliers used optical sensors. Contamination will be detected by being darker, therefore absorbing more light.

In 1997 Loptex S.r.l. in Montano Lucino / ltaly has put a machine on the market under the designation SORTER which detects and eliminates impurities in raw cotton. Today, installations from Loptex monitor about 500 cotton lines world-wide.
